.The function of the Clerk-Treasurer, an elected official, is to serve as fiscal officer for the City of Rensselaer.
The Clerk-Treasurer appoints deputies to serve in the capacity. as the Clerk-Treasurer.
There are currently three Deputy Clerk-Treasurers - Genny Daniels, Linda DeMoss and Jessica Call.
The Clerk-Treasurer's Office is responsible for receiving all monies collected by the Utility Department, Building Department, Police Department and the Cemetery Department, in addition to state and county tax distributions. The employees audit and prepare A/P vouchers for payment and print checks once approved by City Council. Other responsibilities include:
- Preparation of the Annual Financial Report
- Advertise for bids and other legal notices
- Payroll, withholding, employee insurance and retirements
- Employee files and benefits
- Manages and reconciles 121 City Funds and 6 Bank Accounts and 11 Bond Accounts
- Budgets, Transfers and additional Appropriations
- Secretary to Common Council and Board of Public Works
